Extract One Program

This is a tool to extract one program out of an America Hears 16X hearing aid configuration file. The main use for this is to extact a program from one configuration file, another from the same or another file, and then use the tool that compares two programs.

The way this tool delivers its result to you is a little odd. It is sent to your browser as an XML file. XML is the format many things are defined in; the America Hears configuration files included. The output looks like:

At this point you use your browser's "File Save As" to save the file. I recommend a type of text

Copying the characters your browser displays and pasting them somewhere else will most likely not result in a usable file.


Configuration file to extract from:


The file from the last burn is usually found in

C:\Program Files\AmericaHears\Data\1661.hac

The 1661 will be different numbers for you.
This works on both .hac and .had files.
I believe that the .hac file only exists if you have done a burn to your aids.
I believe that the .had file only exists if you have downloaded settings from America Hears.

I have found it useful over time to make copies of the .hac and .had files with long file names saying what is notable about that set of parameters. Once you have a history of .hac or .had files you can extract a program from one of them, extract a program from another, and then compare them.
